Why is old age the longest phase of life..?

Why is the period of old age, that is, the stage of elderly life, the longest or of the greatest duration? Have you ever thought about or studied this? Perhaps not. Before reflecting on this subject, you should definitely observe a banyan tree. The denser a banyan tree becomes, the stronger its roots grow, and so do its branches. Banyan trees are no longer commonly seen in cities, but they can still be found in rural and remote areas. If you ever stop near a banyan tree and observe it closely, you will find that its shade provides the greatest coolness and comfort during the hot summer days. During the rainy season, the same banyan tree shelters travelers from the rain, and in winter, it also offers warmth and protection through its cover. Very few people may know how long a banyan tree lives, but in many places across our country, hundreds of banyan trees can be found that have existed for centuries, and devout people even worship them.
A similar situation exists in human life. Once a person’s life begins to move from middle age toward old age, it does not stop. As age advances, the body gradually becomes weaker, but the treasure of thoughts and experiences in that elderly person’s mind continues to grow and accumulate. Whenever someone in the family faces hardship or adversity, that elderly person provides comfort, strength, reassurance, and guidance to move forward through their wisdom and experience. Families or individuals who benefit from and follow their experiences rarely face difficulties or troubles.
Therefore, it is important that we respect, care for, and serve our elders before they take their final breath, and preserve the treasure of their experience within our minds and lives. Human life will then remain pleasant and fulfilling.
