BNC/602 Kumbinon Mawlong and BNC/2315 Dannyboy Nongkhlaw along with 116 (one hundred sixteen) personnel drawn from various Districts and Units were selected for undergoing training on “Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare Training Course” at Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, ITBP, Mahidanda, District Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand from 23.8.12 to 15.10.12. On 15.9.12 while undergoing their training, BNC/602 Kumbinon Mawlong and BNC/2315 Dannyboy Nongkhlaw met with a fatal accident as a result of which they received injuries and were shifted to District Hospital, Uttarkashi where they were declared dead. On completion of all formalities, the mortal remains of both the deceased was brought by air and their mortal remains were handed over to this Unit. Last respect to the departed soul was paid on 17.9.12 in presence of Dr. Mukul Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri H.D.R. Lyngdoh, Hon’ble Home Minister, Smti Ampereen Lyngdoh, Hon’ble Urban Affairs Minister, DGP Meghalaya and Senior Officers of Meghalaya Police and their last rites was performed on 18.9.12 in their respective villages. Their families have been sanctioned Special family pension from the date of their death at the rate of full monthly salary and all other allowances.
