Acharya Vinoba Bhave was an Indian social reformer, nonviolence activist, and the spiritual successor of Mahatma Gandhi, best known for founding the Bhoodan (Land-Gift) Movement.Early Life and EducationBirth: Born Vinayak Narahari Bhave on September 11, 1895, in Gagode, Maharashtra.

Upbringing: Raised by a religious mother and progressive grandfather who shaped his spiritual and ascetic mindset.Turning Point: Left school in 1916 after reading a speech by Mahatma Gandhi and joined Gandhi’s ashram.

Earned the title “Acharya” (teacher) from the people for his profound wisdom and leadership.The Bhoodan MovementLaunch: Started the Bhoodan (Land-Gift) Movement on April 18, 1951, in Pochampally village.Method: Walked more than 10,000 miles across India to persuade wealthy landowners to donate land to poor, landless farmers.

Died on November 15, 1982, after practicing Samadhi Maran (voluntary fasting until death).Legacy: Honored as the first recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award and posthumously awarded India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna.
